    This video was so helpful thank you 🙏🏻 i want to do a gravel driveway on the cheap to cover my front garden, if i dug out 10cm all round, Layed 5cm of MOT type 1 or whatever MOT is best and compact it, then some strong geotextile weed fabric, then the gravel grids filled with 10mm stone then topped with 20mm stones so they dont get stuck in tyres etc . Would the rain water drain ok through all of that? No worry of it draining towards the house? Front garden is pretty much level

    I over seeded some communal grass with similar bent / fescue ratios as yourself. I watered one part and left the rest I could not reach to nature. Its come up in both. a little more sparse in the one where it only gets rain but hopefully it takes as the rye turf died off and became replaced with weeds as expected with that grass type. Bent is really useful when overseeding and not covering with anything as bird cannot see the seeds and it also seems to stay in place unlike larger seeds. The bluish hue is heat stress. It goes dark before browning.

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener День назад

      You’re right about the birds not getting to the bent seed. If they can manage to find it, fair play, they deserve it! And I’ve found the same about it not moving. Where my bent has come through, you can see the lines where it dropped from the drop spreader which I was quite surprised about.

    That front lawn looks superb! When you put down the seed, how long did you wait before fertilising? I've got the A1 Premiership Pro and the A1 Pre-Seed fertiliser but can't seem to find anything online about timings? Thanks :D

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener День назад

      I fertilised as soon as the seed germinated. Gives it a good boost to get it to being a mature plant faster. Some disagree (and it almost seems too soon), but I’ve had good results doing it that way this year.

    • @chriscole3624
      @chriscole3624 22 часа назад

      I waited 10 days (8 of those under a fleece) & sprayed with a medium rate (around 9-0-0) liquid feed (along with seaweed, bio stimulants & wetting agent). I'll put a granular down next week. It'll take a week or more for the granular to start to work but the liquid works quicker. It's all trial & error really & you'll get to know what works on your lawn. Mine is sandy soil so treatments wash through quickly. The liquid feed only works for a short period & the granular is a slow release ICL feed which should last a little longer than std granular.
